Musée d'Orsay


Certainly one of my favorite museums in Paris. Not only for its great collection on Impressionism paintings (Monet, Degas, renoir, Cezane ...) but also for the building itself, an old railway station beautifuly transformed.
It lies on the river bank facing the Louvre and the Tuileries which you can walk to using a pedestrian bridge called the "Passerelle Solférino".

    Whenever I visit the Musée d'Orsay, I always feel that the building itself is as much a work of art as the material it contains. It is one of my favourites as well. Thank you for posting its portrait.

    Yes i love it too! Maybe next time we are in paris we could meet for a coffee in the cafe there?
    Oh, and next time you are there, would you please say hello to Caillebotte's Floor Strippers, my favourite painting in the whole place (and that's a HARD pcik!)

    This is a beautiful museum and seems more "visitor friendly" than most museums. So light and open.

    I haven't been to Paris since 2003, but isn't the D'Orsay the museum with the Paris Opera model? I loved standing above it. Joan

    Yes Joan, that's the place with the Opera Model. I'll post a picture of it later.

    I love your Paris daily photo blog. C'est formidable! I'm leaving soon for a quick 13 day "vacation" in Europe. England, France and Liechtenstein. I have a Rotary breakfast meeting le jeudi 25. juin 'a 8 heures 'a Hotel Paiva - 25, Champs-Elysees. How about a cup coffee and a few photos afterwards? 9:30 ish du matin? I'll either be with an American colleague or a French friend.
