The street named "rue de la gaité" is located in the Montparnasse area on the 14th arrondissement side. It's a small street known for its numerous little theaters and the area is full of restaurants also. This painted wall stands at the beginning of the street and its colors represent the street as "gaité" is the old way of writing "gaieté" which means "cheerfulness" in French.
I wonder when it was painted? It's very cheerful indeed! I stayed in Montparnasse in 2009, but I didn't pass this unfortunately
ReplyDeleteWhy did they add the extra 'e'?
ReplyDeleteI would love to see the interior, to see if it is as inviting as the exterior! Merci, Laurent!
ReplyDeleteO.K. So I goofed...I was thinking it was the name of a cafe, but I see that it is a wall advertsing the name of the STREET! Sorry I misunderstood! But I would love to see shots of the interior of the street as well...hahahaha! Is my face red or what?
ReplyDeleteNow this is a sign! I love it. Thank you.
