Cancan !

Street graffiti seen in the 10th arrondissement. Just take a close look at the cancan ladies' heads ... the writing on the left says " a graffiti is the freedom of conscience ".

Canal Saint Martin

We stay on the water today. Paris not only has the Seine river but also this very nice Canal name Canal Saint Martin leading from the Seine to the Bassin de la Villette in the north east of the city (4.5 km). It is a nice area to walk especially on sundays when cars are banned from the surrounding streets and the area is left to pedestrians and bikes. On this canal you can find 9 locks like the one we see in the far background.

Waiting for the train at the Gare de l'Est

This last weekend I took the TGV (fast train) to go near Strasbourg in the Alsace region, east of France on the German border. The Alsace region is very well know in France for its Christmas markets.
Here is a view af the great hall of the Gare de l'Est (east railway station).

Gare de l'Est

"East railways station" is located in the 10th arrondissement. It's one of the 6 Paris stations.

Porte Saint Martin

 The "Porte Saint Martin" is one of the gates of the now-destroyed fortifications of Paris located in the 10th arrondissement. It was built in 1674.

Canal

The clothes shops "Antoine et Lili" on the Canal Saint Martin banks.
