Blue sky on the Seine too

The Pont des Arts ( Arts Bridge ) is a pedestrian bridge leading to the Louvre museum. Here it is seen from the Square du Vert Galand, a little garden located at the end of the isle de la Cité. This is still one of my last Sunday pictures with the blue sky which is gone now. The big building on the right side is the Louvre museum. Like yesterday's picture I know this one is very "touristic" but you see, even though I'm a Parisian I so much enjoy these places and never get tired of shooting them.

Stormy weather on the Louvre

Rain is back in Paris. At least it give nice colors to pictures !

Eating at the Louvre

The food court located in the Carroussel du Louvre (Louvre museum shopping center) has been completely renewed and is now totally reopened with new restaurants and a new design for tables, chairs and lights. I might admit that it is really better now. They made the place really look better and the best improvement is the noise of all those people that they really achieved to turn down using new roof technics that seem to absorb the sound. It'a good place to rest during a museum visit when it's too cold to enjoy a lunch in the Tuileries garden.

More snow

One more with the snow on the Louvre. You can see the Caroussel Triomph arch and also the pyramid in the background. Snow has nearly gone now but it is still very cold (for us).

Sunset on the Pyramid

As I was walking by the Louvre I could not resist taking a picture of the splendid sunset we had at that moment certainly due to the very cold weather. I did not have my camera with me but only my phone and I thought it would not be good quality but in fact I like it a lot so here it is to share this moment with you.
This morning it is snowing again on Paris so I am preparing myselft to fight the weather conditions and have some "Paris under the snow" pictures taken !

Through a Louvre window

This view is taken from a window in a room of the Louvre Museum. You can see the Tuileries gardens turning red and in the background the Arc of Triomphe and "La Defense" business quarter.
This "La Defense" quarter is the object of a big controversy in France at the moment since young 23 years old French President' son is going to be elected at the head of the Adgency that manages this district. See NYC Times for more details.

Concerning the controversy ... I am on the side of the ones who love it. Got tons of pictures of it and I thought a birthday would at least justify this second shot.

Leaving tosay for a short vacation in Britany (west of France by the Atlantic ocean), I'll try to continue posting but I may miss one day or more.

The Eiffel Tower is not the only one to celebrate a big birthday this year. So is the Louvre pyramid celebrating its 20th birthday this week. 

Desined by the architect PE, the pyramid was completed in 1989 and triggered considerable controversy at that time. It has now become a landmark for the city.

Inside the Louvre, here is a picture of the Grand Salon (Great Lounge) in the Napoleon III appartements. It shows the typical taste for luxury of this period.

Seine river in winter

The "Passerelle des Arts", also called "Pont des Arts" (Arts Bridge) is one of my favourite spot in Paris. The view from this brige is absolutely gorgeous, I post a picture from the bridge next time. This picture is taken from another bridge accross the Seine River and in the background you can see the Louvre Museum.
