On the Pont Alexandre III

A statue on the Alexander III bridge and in the very far background you can see the Montparnasse Tower, Paris's only skyscraper.

This is a fantastic perspective, Laurent! The details of the sculpture are wonderfully clear.

And is it true that Paris has a law forbidding buildings taller than seven stories, except for that one short period in its history? I find that amazing and enviable.

Yes Hilda it is true about the law and if it is fine for the old cultural Paris, the law is now questionned because it provides Paris from getting new architectural tall buildings like London or Berlin have. The Paris mayor tries to modify this law to be able to built tall buildings in some areas on the city borders and I might say that some projects are quite interesting.

That's a really nice photo Laurent. Can you confirm what I think I see in the top right corner?

What a great close-up! I'm so happy that Paris keeps the graffiti off of these golden fellas. They are so easy to access.

James, you're right it looks like something unusual for a bridge decoration but it only looks like it. In fact you find this shape all over the bridge (see my previous post: http://dailyphotoparis.blogspot.com/2010/02/alexandrer-iii-bridge.html ) and in some places like here they are made of glass.
