Individual houses in la Mouzaia quarter
You do not find a many individual houses in Paris as the city is rather small and so mostly built with buildings. "La Mouzaia" is an area located near the Parc des Buttes Chaumont in the 19th arrondissement and it holds a few streets with only stone houses like these. There were built at the end of the 19th century for workers. You now have to be anything but a simple worker to own one of them ! It's a very nice walk by the way that you must add when visiting the Park.

V ... is for Virginia !
Yesterday, Virginia honored me with her alphabet series on her brilliant "Paris Through my Lens" blog. Meeting her and her friends Mary and Peter last month was really a great moment and as in her post she's talking about our goodbye scene in the metro ... here is was it gives from my side of the camera. Loved that moment too !

Cloudy sky on the Place du Chatelet statue
Well I confess that I miss South Africa's blue sky (see here) and waking up today in the grey is not what I enjoy the most. But I must admit that it give pretty nice pictures when suddenly the sun achieves to shine through. Have a nice weekend !

Back home !
Hello everyone ! I am back from my winter holidays spent in beautiful Capetown, South Africa. It was summer there and even I'm glad to be back in Paris I wish the weather was a little warmer. For my come back post this is a view of the Saint Sulpice church towers out above the roofs. The north tower renovation has just been finished last January and for the first time for the last 11 years of giant renovation the Church is now scaffoldings free.
By the way thanks for your sweet comments on my "Bye Bye Paris" post.

Ca c'est Paris !
Monday I went to the cinema on the Champs Elysées to watch a broadcast of an Opera live from Paris Garnier Opera. The cinema theater entrance was located in the same building as the famous "Lido" where you can see one of Paris typical shows. I've never been there but it has a very good reputation. You can see more of it on their website : here.
By the way the opera I watched was Haendel's Guilio Cesare with the fabulous French soprano Nathalie Dessay. If you want to hear her click here

Jussieu University
The buildings in the background including the tower are one of Paris Universities called "Jussieu" which is also the name of the subway station. This is the second and only tower we have inside Paris city limits. It as recently been renewed and has a nice lighting at night. As you can see, yesterday was a perfect blue sky day. We had the feeling of being suddenly thrown in Spring but today grey is back ...

Art on the balcony
This statue is a reproduction of the dying slave by Michelangelo that you can find in the Louvre Museum. In fact there are 12 statues on top of this building designed by Spanish architect Manuel Núñez Yanowsky and located on the corner of Rue de Rambouillet and Avenue Daumesnil in the 12th arrondissement. The building is a Police office and I remember posting a picture of it in October 2009. This time I liked the contrast with the next building which has a much classical design. Always should look up when walking in Paris !

Sunset from the Jeu de Paume
Monday I was telling you about about the beautiful view we have when we stand in front of the Jeu de Paume at the end of the Tuileries garden. Here is what I saw when I got of the Kertész photo exhibition. The sun was going down and the Eiffel tower in the far away seemed nearly as big as the Obelisk on the Place de la Concorde. Who could resist to take the picture ?

Theme day : Fountains
For the month theme I present to you the Place des Voges fountain at dawn. This square is absolutely a must see in Paris. Full of historical houses and a real "bonheur pour les yeux" as we say in French.
