Shopping de Noël aux Grands Magasins

Yes "shopping" is a word curently used by French when they go ... shopping : "je vais faire du shopping" (I am going to do some shopping). Only our Quebec cousins have created a French word for it : magasiner.
So let's do some shopping at what we call " les Grands Magasins" in other words the " big department stores" which for a Parisian mean Le Printemps and Les Galeries Lafayette on the boulevard Haussman. Dont't you think Le Printemps has gorgeous decoration ?

Oh my, Laurent! If there had been that many people when I was there I would not have been able to get photos of all the windows!

Your perspective shows the big picture of the decorations... something for everyone.

Love the colours! I hope that the lights will wait for me when I'll be there ;)

Very festive! I thought that the French said "je fais du courses" for shopping? Or is that only groceries?

@Brittany: I also know that phrase. My french teacher teach me the same way but I don't know if it's usual.

@ Britany and Tina : yes "je fais des courses " is commonly used also but as Britany says it is more for food or any daily / weekly shopping. "Faire du shopping" is used when you go to department stores or when you just wander in streets entering in many shops. We also use "je fais les boutiques" equally with "je fais du shopping".

@Tina : when will you be in Paris ?

I always love to see their windows if I am there around the holidays ~ but the crowds ~ mon dieu!

I like the lights Printemps always has under their canopy.

For lack of a better word, that is AWESOME! I have never seen anything like it. I want to spend next Christmas there.
