Galette des Rois

This is a French tradition each January : la Galette des Rois. Absolutely a bag time for the diet but "que diable" !!! Inside the cake there is a little figurine and the one who got it becomes the king or queen (see crowns on the galettes).
If you want to know more about this tradition : see Wikipedia short and good description.

This is a great shot! I love seeing the beautiful cuisine and bakeries of France/Paris. My sister had a mini galette de rois in 2009 when we visited Paris. It looked beautiful too.

We will have several Galettes des Rois during the Mardi Gras "season." I don't care about the crown, I just want to win the fève (and eat a slice)!

Perfect - I wonder if we can get these here in Sydney. I might take a google. They do look lovely and I am always in for a game of hide and seek. x

What a yummy, fun tradition! My friend Isabelle from Angers has told me about that "royal" tradition!
