Monumenta at the Grand Palais : Leviathan by Anish Kapoor

When you enter the Grand Palais "Monumenta" exhibition here is where you get. A huge red "bubble" like place with the roof of the nave appearing on the top and a strange feeling of not knowing where you are. Wait for tomorrow to see the outside ...

Le Grand Palais

Le Grand Palais is an exhibition center near the Champs Elysée and this entrance is the one for the Nave which is a giant place where big exhibitions or shows  take place. Among the exhibition there is one called "Monumenta" when each year an artist is invited to use the huge nave for his art. I will show you tomorrow what absolutely must see exhibition we have this year.

Monet exhibition

Last evening I went to the Monet exhibition at the Galeries Nationales du Grand Palais. This retrospective exhibition started on September 22nd and will last until January 24th and it is just marvelous. Nearly 200 paintings are shown coming from museums and private collection all over the world. Beauty,beauty, beauty !

Paris d'Amour

This exhibition called "Paris d'Amour" took place in the City Hall building and though it ended last July 31th, the posters are still in place along the rue de Rivoli. Maybe because Paris is the city of love ...

Willy Ronis exhibition at the Monnaie de Paris

Yesterday I finally managed to see the beautiful Willy Ronis exhibition that took place at the Monnaie de Paris building. It was ending that day and I really feel lucky not to have missed it. He was a fabulous photographer and the exhibition showed some famous pictures like the little Parisian boy with his baguette (see below) but also others less famous and still very touching. A real Master.

A cow exihibition on the avenue Daumesnil in the 12th arrondissement. Even the yellow mailbox has got horns !

While the French Tennis Open is on at Roland-Garros, the Paris City Hall square has been transformed into a tennis court and lots of other exhibitions about tennis.

Every day a former tennis player (Mc Enroe, Guy Forget ...) comes to play on this court and people can also watch the live matches from Roland-Garros on a giant screen.

Le Grand Paris

10 proposals from varous architects are presented at the Paris Architecture Museum for the "Grand Paris" project. Paris is indeed a rather small city compared to others like London and the boundaries with what we call the suburb are very strong. For most Parisian, going outside the "periph" (the highway surrounding Paris) is nearly like going abroad! The goal of the "Grand Paris" is to extend the city to the suburb and create a "Greater Paris". I would not introduce this project like Eric did on his Paris blog talking about President Sarkozy since I personally do not think he can lead us to the future but Eric's post in as usual interesting and gives good links for those who want to know more about this "greater Paris".

The exhibition takes place in room that are dedicated to architecture so that's why you can see old and new on the picture.

Le Petit Nicolas

This picture is taken on the rue de Rivoli entrance of the City Hall where an exhibition of "The Little Nicholas" is taking place.

The "Little Nicholas" is a comic book created by Sempé and Goscinny (Astérix) in the late 50's and still very popular. Not only because our Président's first name is Nicolas and is ...  little !
