Outside holidays markets offer lots of food from France regions like these "saucissons" from south west of France.

Place de la Réunion market

We're still at the market near home on the Place de la Réunion (Réunion square : named after a French island in the Indian ocean). I think this picture shows the atmosphere of this popular market.

Fromage

France has more than 300 different cheese (fromage) types. Here are some of them from the fresh market near home. There are a lot of fresh market in Paris with great fresh food and warm atmosphere. Some are very "upper class" like the Rue Mouffetard market, other more "mixed" but all of them are worth seeing. If you read French you can look at the Paris website to have information about fresh markets.

My neighbourhood : Place de la Réunion

This is the fresh market that takes place twice a week on the Place de la Réunion near home. It is a simple and "working class" market with a nice and friendly atmosphere. 

This Square is named after a French overseas island called "La Réunion"located in the Indian Ocean near Madagascar.

Marché des enfants rouges

The " Red children market" as we can translate it, is the oldest market place in Paris.  The name comes from an orphanage of the 16th century located there which used to dress in red the children that they took care of.  When the orphanage closed in 1777, the place became a market.

Now you can find there a compact indoor food market with a small iron-gate entrance that’s easy to miss if you aren’t looking for it. The nice thing about the market is that many of the stands sell fresh prepared food that you can eat on tables spread out through the market.
