Ca c'est Paris !

Monday I went to the cinema on the Champs Elysées to watch a broadcast of an Opera live from Paris Garnier Opera. The cinema theater entrance was located in the same building as the famous "Lido" where you can see one of Paris typical shows. I've never been there but it has a very good reputation. Paris' wishes for 2011

It's not too late for wishes so I wanted to show you what the City Major and his council created this year. This poster is displayed all over Paris showing the City Hall with the lights of the "Nuit Blanche" event and the text is very good : " Nice year 2011, in a capital city where differences meet and respect, a city who loves life."

I was on the Champs Elysées yesterday night and while waiting for my friend under the rain I took this picture (among others...) that I wanted to share with you today.  I do not like the rain but I must admit it gives nice pictures sometimes especially at night.

Paris Nature Capitale

Due to the special event " Paris Nature Capitale " that took place on the Champs Elysees during the past 2 days I am breaking the CDP rule and I am posting more than 1 picture to let you enjoy what it was like.

The avenue was really green starting near the Arc of Triopmh with trees of all different parts of France and ending near the Champs Elysees roundabout with plants you find in fields and also with animals.

Trees have grown on the Champs Elysées

Late post today because I wanted to show you what the Champs Elysees looked like for the past 2 days. Since I was spending some time with friends in the countryside not far from Paris I managed to be back in time to be part of the big event that was "Paris Nature Capitale". I will tell you more about it tomorrow and add some pictures too.
By the way it's 9pm and still 27 degres ! We had a fabulous long weekend !

Christmas market

We are still on the Champs Elysées today where for the second year we have a Christmas market going on both sides from the Champs Elyséees roundabout to the Place de la Concorde. This Christmas market tradition originated in the Alsace region, east of France where they are still the best to see if you have the chance to visit this beautifull part of the country. But I must say that this one on the Champs Elysées is very nice and it gives life to this part of the avenue where there is no shops.
As I am talking about the Champs Elysées roundabout where this market starts, here is a picture of the way this place is decorated for Christmas :
