Summer in Spring

Yesterday was like a summer day in Paris. Warm temperatures, blue sky ... a delightful day. The people enjoy the nature here in the Bois de Vincennes, one of the 2 Paris big wild parks.

Diner at the Paris Vincennes Racecourse

Paris has 3 horses racecourses : Vincennes located in the Vincennes (east) wood and Longchamp and Auteuil located in the Boulogne wood (west). Here is the Vincennes racecourse restaurant at night where you can have a quite nice diner and watch the races ... and bet if you want. This is a place I'm sure most of you who visited Paris have never been too, unless you're a hors race fan. In French we call this place " un champ de course" (literally a "race field") and it is very popular to be on horse races.

Parisian squirrel

You do not find grey squirrel in Paris like you find lots of them in USA or even in London parks. Our squirrels are  the red specie and they are still wild and do not approach humans. I pictured this one in the Bois de Vincennes and I was very happy because they're so wild and fast that they never stay long when you're around.

Great sunny and warm day in Paris today and probably also for the next days.
Here is a place Parisian enjoy during the weekend : the Bois de Vincennes  located on the east side of Paris. It is a very big forest-like park with 2 lakes and it is a fabulous place to rest on a sunny day. There is a second big park like this one on the west side of the city called "Bois de Boulogne". I'm happy to live only 15 minutes away by bike from this Bois de Vincennes so I ride there even on evenings after work when days are longer and weather is good enough.
We're having a 3 day weekend in France as monday is a public holiday so a lot of people will enjoy these areas since the weather forecast is very good.

Theâtre du Soleil

Yesterday evening I attended a fabulous play at the Theatre du Soleil called "Les Naufragés du Fol Espoir". This theatre is located in the "Bois de Vincennes" one of the 2 Paris big "forest like" parks. The place is called "La Cartoucherie" and hosts 6 theaters. It was a former military place that had been left unsed and where 40 years ago some theater people decided to locate their work area. It is now very well known and in order to give you an idea of what it is like I made this little photomontage.

Summer or automn ?

I took this picture yesterday in the Bois de Vincennes where I had a long rest in the sun. The chestnuts tree already look like if it was automn time. It is still very hot in Paris and so what else than an afternoon in one of the 2 Paris woods, this one being only 15 minutes ride by bike from home, I often go there.
