Bike in the city

If you've been in Paris during the past 2 years you've probably noticed that the city has now a lot of bikes on the streets. Not only the Velib, our free bike system, but also private bikes that Parisian now use really more than ever before. This weekend I was in London and I was happy to see that they also started last july with a free bike system like in Paris. The good thing about Velib is that you don't have to care about parking your bike. I think that the owner of the bike of today's photo found a quite nice parking place (not sure it's allowed by the way ...)

I love looking at your photos and then trying to work out where you were standing when you took it - this one was reasonably easy because of the Le Notre Dame - but others are trickier. Great shot!!

Wish that was my bike.

Never thought about the Velib users not having to worry about stolen bikes. I'm not sure how that works but if you say so. I think this bike owner had a grand idea. Love the POV of this photo Laurent. Moi? Mètro svp. :)

This is a great point of view and love how the bike owner appropriated an iron ring to secure his vélo with a lock.

Next trip in warm weather I want to ride in an area where I am not likely to get run over. Perhaps on of the parks like Bois de Vincennes?

Diane,
I'm glad my photos make you think about Paris.

Yes not having to worry about thiefs is one Velib advantages !

You have to do it and not only in the Bois de Vincennes. Paris is offering more and more separate bike lanes on street where cars cannot get you ...

And the biker has the benefit of this beautiful location when leaving the bike and coming back.
