Every year, Paris river banks are closed to traffic during one month for the event called "Paris Plages". Lots of things happen then on the banks where you can either do sunbathing on sand or on long-chairs or play Pétanques or attend concerts, etc ... It's interesting how much cleaner the Seine looks in pictures.
I was there for all that last year and never went down there. I must be nuts.
